The Maryland Black Bears have recently added two new forwards, Luke Mountain and Patrick Choi, to the team this past weekend. The pair of forwards were among the final players released from USHL rosters.
Luke Mountain, a 6’1” 190 lbs Forward who hails from Maplewood, Minnesota played his last few seasons with the Shattuck St. Mary’s program. Last season in in the United States High School Prep League he played 54 games where he tallied 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points. In 2016, Luke was drafted #131 overall by the Omaha Lancers of the USHL Futures Draft. This year the Black Bears selected him in the NAHL Draft. Luke made his Maryland debut last weekend against the Wilke-Barre/Scranton Knights.
Patrick Choi, originally born in Seoul, South Korea, is a 5’9” 183 lbs forward who spent most of last season with the Syracuse Jr. Stars of the National Colegiate Development Conference (NCDC). There he totaled 53 points (22G, 31A) in 47 games. Including 3 points in three games in last years playoffs. Patrick was awarded an NCDC All Star position for his efforts for last season. The Black Bears selected him in the second round of the 2018 NAHL draft. Patrick also brings international experience to the Black Bears as well. In 2016 he represented South Korea in the World Junior Championships with the Korean Under-18 team. Choi is committed to Bentley University (NCAA Div-I) for the 2019-20 season.
