Maryland Black Bears 4-5-3 (4th East Division)
Jamestown Rebels 4-6 (6th East Division)
The Black Bears are back at home this weekend to take on the Jamestown Rebels. This weekend will be the first of a total of 12 games to be played between the two division rivals.
The Bears are coming off their first home win in team history and are looking to defend their home ice against a tough Jamestown Rebel team. Both teams are looking to climb the division rankings and challenge the Johnstown Tomahawks, who are at the top of the division with sixteen points. Team point leaders, Alex Frye and Lewis Crosby, will lead the Jamestown Rebels this weekend, but the Black Bears showed last weekend they can compete with anyone by winning against the Tomahawks last Friday and almost completing a weekend sweep in a 5-4 loss last Saturday.
Tempers flared on the ice against the Tomahawks as Bears forward, Jake Sujishi served a fifteen-minute penalty for fighting a Tomahawk opponent. Last weekend set a fire under the Black Bear team and this weekend gives them a great opportunity to pass the .500 mark.
Goaltender Benjamin Beck will be entered into the lineup Friday night. The 6’9 German native is a University of Maine commit and provides excellent depth at goalie for the Bears.
This will end the Black Bears’ home stretch as they travel to take on the New Jersey Titans next weekend on October 26th and 27th.
