Rebels Top Black Bears 4-1

The Jamestown Rebels came into Piney Orchard Ice Arena in a rematch of an exciting series with the Maryland Black Bears two weeks ago that saw both games go to a shootout. No extra time was needed for this game, as the Rebels handed a 4-1 loss to Maryland, dropping its record to 5-8-3.

The lone goal in the first forty minutes of play came in crazy fashion during the first period. Rebel’s defender Brayden Richards shot the puck off the boards towards Black Bears goaltender David Tomeo. En route, the puck deflected off of Jamestowns’ Jacob Felker and Sam Anzai, sneaking past Tomeo to put the Rebels up 1-0.

The next goal wouldn’t come until the third period, when Jamestown’s forward Connor Linton took the puck into the zone on a two-on-one. Linton’s initial shot was stopped by David Tomeo, but the rebound was played by Linton off of Jacob Felker’s skate and into the net. Joseph Mancuso responded with his third of the year moments later for Maryland, taking the puck from behind the net and shooting it five hole on Rebel’s goalie Ryan Keane to make it 2-1.

Jamestown would answer back on the power play with a goal from Antonio Venuto in the high slot, burying a pass from Lukas Uhler. Alex Frye would ice the game with his team leading sixth goal of the season with an empty net goal.

Maryland looks to strike back in game two of the series Saturday, November 3rd at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. Puck drop will be at 7:45 PM E.T.
