The Maryland Black Bears lost 3-2 to the Johnstown Tomahawks Saturday night. The Tomahawks may still have taken home the victory, but the Black Bears rebounded very well after an 8-2 blowout Friday night. Anthony Del Tufo had himself a solid night between the pipes with 28 saves and a .903 SV%.
Although brought with great resistance, the Tomahawks started the game by scoring three unanswered goals. Captain Connor Pooley started the comeback charge toward the end of the second period with the Black Bears first goal that was assisted by Logan Kons and Luc Salem.
Jack Ruddin of the Black Bears followed the Captain’s lead with an unanswered goal to diminish the Tomahawks lead to one goal. Tempers flared during the third period between the two division rivals. The Captain found himself in the middle of a scuffle as did Bradley Jenion against Mitchell Hale and Alex Wilkins from the Tomahawks. The Black Bears kept up the intensity during the third period by outshooting the Tomahawks 10 to 7, but ultimately ran out of time.
The Black Bears will finish their road series against the Johnstown Tomahawks tomorrow for a 3:00 PM game at the 1st Summit Arena.
