Black Bears Blank Rebels 3-0

The Maryland Black Bears have been stellar at home, compiling a 7-0-0 record thus far. And against the Philadelphia Rebels the Black Bears kept the good fortune going, shutting out the visiting Rebels 3-0.

Maryland got the scoring started with a shorthanded goal from forward and NAHL leading goal scorer Christian Catalano. Catalano caught Philadelphia on a bad line change and got the pass from defenseman Kaleb Tiessan and walked in on a breakaway to score top right corner to make it 1-0. The Black Bears made it 2-0 later in the first with a power play goal later that period from forward Gabriel Westling. Westling got a pass from defenseman Luke Van Why and fired a slapshot past Rebels’ goalie Jakub Krbecek for the two-goal lead.

The scoring concluded in the third period with another Maryland powerplay goal, this time from forward Dimitry Kebreau who slammed a pass from teammate Branden Piku into the net from the far circle to make it 3-0, a score that would hold to be the final. Black Bears’ goalie William Hakansson made 29 saves in his second shutout of the season as Maryland moves to 8-0-0 at home.

Maryland and Philadelphia will rematch on Saturday, November 12th at Piney Orchard Ice Arena with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 PM ET. All games can be streamed on HockeyTV.
