In the Black Bears first roster move of the season, they have acquired veteran defenseman Cam Gaudette from the Northeast Generals in exchange for a tender and a conditional third-round pick. Gaudette is a two-year NAHL veteran and a Division-1 committed player set to join Northeastern University of the Hockey East Conference in the 2021-2022 season.

The Black Bears are hoping Gaudette will bring some offense to their defensive unit having lost Logan Kons to Augsburg University and Hampus Rydqvist, the league’s highest scoring defenseman, to Miami Ohio. The newest Black Bears defenseman tallied 8 goals and 23 assists in 49 games played last season. He will be a veteran addition to a team already returning five defensemen from last season.

Maryland’s Head Coach and GM, Clint Mylymok had the following to say about Gaudette:

“Cam is a veteran NAHL defenseman, and is very hard to play against. He competes every time he steps onto the ice. He will bring that competitive drive, and strong blend of offensive ability and toughness to our lineup. We welcome Cam to Maryland, and look forward to having him join the Black Bears.”
