The Maryland Black Bears have announced they have officially hired Katie Sarich as their Hockey Operations Assistant. Sarich was with the team last season as their Hockey Operations Intern, and planned to attend Buffalo State University this season as a member of their Division 3 Women’s Hockey Team, but due to Covid-19 she has elected to defer her collegiate career to 2021-2022. Head Coach and GM of the Black Bears, Clint Mylymok, had the following to say on Katie joining the staff:

“Katie started off with us last season as a Hockey Operations Intern, and has shown the determination, work ethic, and the ability to take on more responsibilities within the Black Bears hockey staff. She is as reliable and talented as they come, and we look forward to working with her as we build our program in year 3.”

The Black Bears’ Team President, Robyn Remick, had this to add on Katie’s hiring:

“Katie was a tremendous intern for us last season and we cannot be more excited to have her join the full-time staff. Katie is an extremely hard worker who is more than ready to handle an increased role in the organization. She brings tremendous hockey knowledge and has the utmost respect from our players and staff.”

Sarich had the following to say on her new position with the team:

“Last year as an intern was an amazing learning experience for me as well as a lot of fun. I’m excited for the opportunity Clint and Brandon have given me to have an increased role on the staff and further my career in hockey.”
