The Maryland Black Bears finished off its regular season portion of the schedule with a final game against the Northeast Generals. In an exciting back and forth game, it was the Black Bears taking home one final win against the Generals in a 3-2 shootout win.

Maryland forward Tanner Rowe started the scoring for a second consecutive game, shooting a backhand shot five-hole to make it 1-0. In the second period, it was forward Branden Piku scoring on a snapshot goal to make it 2-0. Northeast responded in the second and third period with rebound goals from forwards Ricky Boysen and Liam McCanney to tie the game 2-2. And after an exciting three-on-three overtime period, the two teams went to the shootout. Maryland got a goal in round two from defenseman Philip Tornqvist to put the Black Bears up 1-0 after two rounds, but defenseman Alexander Tertyshny tied it in the third round for the Generals to make it 1-1 after three rounds. No more goals were scored until the bottom of the sixth round, where Maryland forward Miles Gunty played the hero with a wrist shot goal to secure a 3-2 win. The win was Maryland’s 25th on the season.

The Maryland Black Bears now have its eyes set on Friday, May 21st, which will see them take on the Johnstown Tomahawks in game one of its best-of-five series in round one of the Robertson Cup Playoffs. Game two will be on Saturday, May 22nd. Both games one and two will be played at 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown. The series will head back to Piney Orchard Ice Arena on Wednesday, May 26th for game three of the series and game four if necessary on Thursday, May 27th. If necessary, a fifth and final game will be played in Johnstown on Saturday, May 29th. All games can be streamed on HockeyTV.
