After dropping a heartbreaking game to New Jersey three nights prior, the Maryland Black Bears looked to right the ship at home in a game against the Johnstown Tomahawks. And on Miltary Appreciation Night the Black Bears did just that, using a strong second period to take the game 4-1.

Maryland forward Ryan Bottrill got the scoring started with a shot in the slot to make it 1-0 in the first period. In the second period, the Black Bears got two goals from forwards Connor Cole and Ethan Lareau to make it 3-0. Cole’s goal came on the power play on a shot from the slot while Lareau’s came on a wrist shot entering the zone. Johnstown responded with a goal from forward Zachary Murray to make it 3-1 after forty minutes. Forward Jacob Brockman capped off the scoring in the third period with an empty-net goal to make it 4-1 with under two seconds left. That score would hold up to be the final as Black Bears’ goalie Luca Di Pasquo recorded his twelfth win of the season.

Maryland and Johnstown will face off again on Saturday night with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. The game can also be streamed on HockeyTV.
