The Maryland Black Bears have tendered Shane Albert, a Forward from the Mercer Chiefs. The Chiefs is an AYHL affiliate of the Black Bears and falls within the Black Bear Sports Groups’ umbrella. Albert is the third player (Jude Kurtas and Aidan Mcdowell) from the Mercer family to be targeted by Maryland.

Shane Albert is 5’11, 180 pounds and was born on May 29, 2002, The Philadelphia, PA native is a versatile Forward that plays both Right Wing and Center. Albert had 9 goals and 15 assists in 22 games played during his 2018-2019 campaign with the Chiefs. Albert currently attends the Millbrook School.

Clint Mylymok, Head Coach and General Manager of the Maryland Black Bears issued the following statement:

 

“Shane is part of our Mercer Chief family, and he has firmly been on our radar for the past two years,” said Mylymok. “He is a complete, 200’ player, with very underrated skill. His hockey IQ is impressive, and he will be a solid Jr A player next season. He has shown tremendous dedication to his development on the ice, as well as off it, which is perfect for our beliefs as an NAHL program. We look forward to having Shane continue his growth as a hockey player here in Maryland.”
