The Maryland Black Bears looked for revenge after last night’s 7-4 loss to the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. With a great team effort, the Black Bears were able to do just that with a decisive 5-0 win.

Maryland started the scoring early when forward Elliott Lareau buried a rebound in the crease to make it 1-0 in the first period. The scoring resumed in period two when Black Bears’ defenseman Kevin Scott blasted a one-time slap shot into the net on the power play to make it 2-0. Less than three minutes later, Maryland forward and captain Connor Cole scored on a wrist shot from the far circle to make it 3-0.

The Black Bears picked up right where they left off in the third period, with forward Miles Gunty scoring on a wrist shot from the high slot to make it 4-0. Maryland forward Branden Piku concluded the scoring by putting home a rebound to make it 5-0. The Black Bears held strong the rest of the way and beat the Jr. Hat Tricks for the third time this season by the final score of 5-0. Goaltender Luca Di Pasquo made 15 saves in his second shutout of the season for Maryland.

The Black Bears will hit the road for the next two weeks to take on the Northeast Generals and the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. Maryland returns home on Friday, December 17th to take on the Johnstown Tomahawks in a rematch of last year’s first-round playoff series where the fourth-seeded Black Bears upset the top seed Tomahawks in five games. Puck drop will be at 7:30 PM ET at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. All the games can be streamed on HockeyTv.
