The Maryland Black Bears blanked the Philadelphia Rebels last night 3-0 and looked to move to 9-0-0 on home ice with a win in its rematch with Philadelphia on Saturday night. And Maryland did just that, as Christian Catalano’s three-point night led the Black Bears to a 4-2 win over Philadelphia.

The Rebels got the scoring started with a powerplay goal from forward David Deputy, who took a snapshot in the slot to beat Maryland goaltender William Hakansson on the top left side to make it 1-0. However, Black Bears’ forward Christian Catalano responded with his second shorthanded goal of the series, putting home a pass from captain Brad McNeil under the glove of Philadelphia goalie Jakub Krbecek to make it 1-1.

Scoring resumed in the second period for Maryland when Catalano scored on the breakaway, roofing a shot top right side to make it 2-1 with his second goal of the night. Black Bears’ forward Dimitry Kebreau made it 3-1 just over a minute later with a wrist-shot goal from the far circle. The Rebels got the goal back less than 90 seconds into the third period when co-captain Connor Sedlak redirected a puck in the slot to the back of the net to make it 3-2. However, Maryland forward captain Brad McNeil got the goal back with a rebound goal in the slot on the powerplay to make it 4-2, a score that would hold up to be the final. Maryland moves to 18-3-0 on the season, with goaltender William Hakansson moving to a 12-0-0 record on the season.
