Buzzer beaters are a rare feat to accomplish in hockey. The Maryland Black Bears, unfortunately, were on the wrong end of one Tuesday afternoon, dropping a game to the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks 3-2. The game-winning goal came with just 0.9 seconds to go in the game.

The Jr. Hat Tricks got off to a hot start in the first period, getting the game’s first two goals. It started with forward Alexi Van Houtte-Cachero scoring on a wrist shot to put Danbury up 1-0. Jr. Hat Tricks’ forward Mark D’Agostino followed his teammate up with a goal of his own to make it 2-0.

The Black Bears bounced back nicely in the second period, getting a breakaway goal from Luke Mountain less than two minutes into the period to make it 2-1. Maryland forward Grady Friedman followed up his captain with a wrist shot goal just over six minutes later to tie the game. The game remained tied at 2-2 until the last second, where Danbury defenseman Adam Shuchart made it 3-2 on a rebound goal. This goal would prove to be enough for the Jr. Hat Tricks to prevail with a 3-2 win. The loss for the Black Bears in regulation was its first since March 20th, which was a 2-0 loss to the same Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. The loss also snapped an 11 game point streak.

Maryland has a quick turnaround, as they are back in action Thursday, April 29th against the New Jersey Titans. Puck drop is set for 6:30 P.M. ET and the game can be streamed on HockeyTV. This will be the second to last home series of the regular season.
