The Maryland Black Bears returned home Friday night looking to snap a two-game losing streak against the Northeast Generals. And in a high-scoring affair, the Generals took down the Black Bears by the score of 6-3.

Northeast forward Frank D’ancona started the scoring in the first period, snapping a shot five-hole on Maryland goalie Jack Wieneke to make it 1-0. The scoring continued in the second for Northeast, this time from forward Ryan Schelling poking home a goal in the crease on the powerplay to make it 2-0. Black Bears’ forward Samuel Stitz got a goal back with a wrist shot to the top left corner past Generals goalie Toby Hopp to make it 2-1. However, Northeast responded just 42 seconds later with a wrist shot goal from the point from Generals’ defenseman Jackson McCarthy to make it 3-1.

Maryland wouldn’t go down quietly, responding less than three minutes later with a powerplay goal from forward Branden Piku, who fired a one-time slap shot from the high slot to make it 3-2. Black Bears forward Riley Ruh tied the game at 3-3 by poking home a loose puck in the crease. With 22 seconds left to go in the high-scoring second period, Northeast forward Paul Minnehan chipped a puck over Weineke to make it 4-3 for the Generals.

Northeast scored two goals in the third period to cap the game off. Forward Ryan Remick slammed home a shot on a five-on-three powerplay to make it 5-3. Generals’ forward Andrew DellaDonna finished the scoring off on a semi-breakaway wrist shot top right corner to make it 6-3.
