The Maryland Black Bears looked to bounce back against the Maine Nordiques after dropping the first contest 4-1. Despite a late game push, the Black Bears could not overcome a rough start and lost to the Nordiques 3-2.

Maine struck twice in the first period and never looked back. The goals were scored by forwards Makem Demers and Isaiah Fox, both coming from shots in the slot. Maryland got a goal back in the second period thanks to forward and captain Luke Mountain. While the Black Bears were short handed, Mountain received a pass from defenseman Cam Gaudette for a breakaway. Mountain moved the puck to his backhand and put it top shelf to cut the deficit to 2-1. The Nordiques, however, responded in the third period when defenseman James Philpott tipped home a pass from forward Makem Demers for a 3-1 lead. Later in the third period, Maryland forward Jude Kurtas scored a wrist shot goal to make it 3-2 to give the Black Bears some life. But it was not enough as Maine held on for a 3-2 win and a series sweep. This is only the second time Maryland has been swept at home this season. The only prior sweep came October 23rd and 24th of last year to the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks.

Maryland looks to bounce back on the road against the Johnstown Tomahawks. The games will be played on Friday, February 12th at 7:30 PM ET and Saturday, February 13th at 7:00 PM ET at the 1st Summit Arena at Cambria County War Memorial in Johnstown.
