VIRTUAL SCOUTING PROGRAM
Exposure and the ability to showcase talent has been severely limited this spring due to events outside of everyone’s control. As the only ownership group of both a USHL franchise, The Youngstown Phantoms, and a NAHL franchise, The Maryland Black Bears, Black Bear Sports Group is uniquely positioned to assist young hockey players in getting exposure to the entire hockey operations staff of both the Phantoms and Black Bears.
We are thrilled to present a virtual scouting opportunity that will be focused both on opportunities for players in the near term along with a feedback aimed to help players understand both their strengths and weaknesses as a hockey player with a particular focus on areas that need to be further developed to better prepare them for a future in Junior Hockey. This feedback will come from both a written evaluation of the reviewed video along with a 15 minute phone call with a member of the coaching staff of one of the two organizations.
About the Virtual Scouting Program
The Virtual Scouting Program provides an opportunity for players to receive written and verbal feedback by general managers and coaches of either the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms or the NAHL’s Maryland Black Bears. This is perfect for players beginning their preparation for the 2020-2021 season where they will receive specific feedback on both the strengths of their game as well as areas that are in need of improvement before making the jump to one of the two highest levels of Junior Hockey. This program is ideally suited for 2000-2006 Birth Years
How the Virtual Scouting Program Works
- Player Submits a Maximum of 10 minutes of Video
- At a minimum, this should be 7 minutes of clipped shifts from gameplay
- The remainder should be skill work, practice or highlights
- A Coach on staff will then evaluate the film and provide written feedback
- A Coach will then reach out to the player to discuss strengths of their game as well as areas that are in need of improvement
