Maryland saw its four game win streak come to an end Friday night, as the New Jersey Titans came into town and took down the Black Bears with a convincing 6-1 win. The win snapped a three game losing streak for the Titans.

New Jersey started the scoring in the first when forward Evan Werner snapped a four game point drought by scoring on the breakaway to make it 1-0. The scoring resumed in the second period when Titans forward Jack Ring cashed in on a fortunate bounce. Teammate Connor Pelc took a shot that went behind the net but bounced over the net right to Ring who put it behind Maryland goalie Michael Morelli to make it 2-0. Evan Werner scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-0 New Jersey and teammate Zach Nazzarett tallied shortly after to make it 4-0. Maryland forward Josh Waters scored the lone goal of the game for the Black Bears, beating Titans’ goalie Berk Berkeliev five-hole to make it 4-1.

Maryland pulled goalie Michael Morrelli to start the third and debuted new goalie Karsten Bourgoine. New Jersey got two more goals from Jack Ring and Jake LaRusso in the third to make the final score 6-1. New Jersey and Maryland will rematch in game two of the series once again at Ice World. Puck Drop will be at 8:30 P.M. ET this Sunday and the game will be streamed on HockeyTV.
