The Maryland Black Bears brought a four-game win streak into its Friday night match-up against its East Division rival, the Northeast Generals. However, after a dominant three-game sweep over the Johnstown Tomahawks the weekend prior, the script was flipped as the Generals downed the Black Bears 6-2.

Northeast started the scoring with a rebound goal from defenseman Matt DeSpirit to make it 1-0 in the first period. Maryland responded in the second period with a power-play goal from forward Adam Schankula, redirecting a shot from defenseman Trey Scott to level the score at 1-1. Northeast responded just over two minutes later with a goal on a two-on-one chance from forward Frank D’ancona, tipping a cross-ice pass to make it 2-1. Northeast would two more goals within three and a half minutes after taking the lead, with power-play strikes from forwards Ryan Remick and David Andreychuk to make it 4-1 after two periods.

The Black Bears got a goal back with a slot shot from forward Dimitry Kebreau to make it 4-2 less than 90 seconds into the third period. However, despite generating numerous scoring chances, Maryland would fail to score again. The Generals would add two goals in the third from forwards Jake LaRusso and David Andreychuk again to make it 6-2, a score that would hold up as the final.

Maryland and Northeast will be back at it Saturday night with a 6:30 p.m. ET puck drop scheduled at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. All games can be streamed on HockeyTV.
