Luke Mountain is entering his third season with the Maryland Black Bears since joining the franchise back in its inaugural season in 2018. The Woodbury, Minnesota native has amassed 101 games with the Black Bears.

While in quarantine, the veteran made sure to make good use of his time to stay and shape and enjoy time with his family. “I was pretty lucky since I had a gym in my basement and got to work out,” Mountain said, “I lived on the golf course, me and my family went out and golfed almost every day. It was good to see them and have that long time with them that I haven’t had in a long time.”

Fans are going to notice a change in Luke Mountain on his jersey, as Mountain will be changing his number from 10, which he has worn since his first game in Maryland, to 21. This has been his number up until he joined the North American Hockey League. Mountain explained he couldn’t have the number right away and stuck with 10 until this year. “I’ve been 21 my whole life, it’s kind of been that lucky number,” Luke said, “this third year I feel like I need a little switch up.”

Mountain enters his third season with the Black Bears a franchise leader in games played (101) and goals (27). He is one of two third year players for the Black Bears, the other being defenseman Thomas Jarman. This past season, he set a career high in assists with Maryland (16) and looks to use his leadership to continue to push Maryland in the right direction. “We (Jarman and I) just have to lead by example,” Mountain said, “work hard every day at practice, every game.”
