Odenton, MD — Black Bears’ Assistant Captain Thomas Jarman has announced that he will not be returning to the team following their holiday break. He will be heading up to Boston to join his Boston University Terriers and play the remainder of their season. Jarman will finish his Black Bear career with 98 games played. That number is the most by a defenseman and the second most overall, only behind teammate Luke Mountain. Jarman will look to help a BU team that has still yet to play a game this season due to complications with Covid-19. Thomas had the following to say in regards to his departure:

“I would like to say thank you to Maryland Black Bears for the past 2 and 1/2 years, allowing me to build my hockey career in such a good place. I’d like to thank my billets Ken and Lisa for allowing me to stay in their home and make me a part of their family. Also, thanks to owner Murry Gunty, President Robyn Remick, Coaches Clint Mylmok and Brandon Gotkin, and our equipment manager Steve Pederson. As well as our trainers at API, Sean Doyle and Danny Locklear, and our athletic trainer from Medstar Amber Radtke. Maryland is a special place for me and I won’t forget all the fans who came and supported us every night, creating a great atmosphere at Piney Orchard. It was a blast to play in front of them. And lastly, thanks to all my fellow teammates and friends that I’ve played with. You have made it such a great experience and created memories that I’ll remember forever. Go Bears!”

Thomas has been an integral part of the team since he arrived in their first season and he will be missed both on the ice and off it. Head Coach Clint Mylymok had the following to say on Thomas and his time in Maryland:

“As much as no one wants to lose an impact player, we are very happy for Thomas. He set his sights on attaining a commitment to a big school this year, and did what was needed to accomplish this. He is stepping into a great opportunity to play right away, and we wish him all the best. He has earned this through his hard work and dedication, and we thank him for his time and effort in helping build the Maryland Black Bears brand. We look forward to seeing him continue to develop at Boston University.”

The Black Bears will look to resume their season without Jarman on January 8th and 9th in a two game trip up to New Jersey, taking on their division rival Titans.
