Today was a big day for the Maryland Black Bears organization. Bryan Huggins, Daniel Colabufo, and Reid Leibold all signed their National Letters of Intent to play for their respective schools next season. Huggins is committed to Lake Superior State University, Colabufo will be heading to Holy Cross, and Leibold will be attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

Huggins is the most recent addition to the Black Bears, coming from USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks and before that the NAHL’s Kenai River Brown Bears. The 5’10, 165-pound defenseman says he picked Lake State because it is in close proximity to his hometown and because he loves their coaching staff. He made sure to thank his family, friends, and his past and current coaches and teammates for helping him along the way.

Daniel Colabufo spent the last two seasons playing at the Northwood School in Lake Placid. He spent his first year at Northwood playing alongside Black Bear teammate Reid Leibold. Colabufo said he chose Holy Cross because of the campus, the coaching staff, and he knows it will be a place where he can develop as a hockey player. He made sure to thank his past and present coaches as well his entire family, especially his dad. Colabufo made sure to emphasize how incredibly excited he is for this opportunity.

Reid Leibold is playing his second season with the Black Bears, and is excited to finally sign his NLI after being committed to RPI for 3 years. Leibold made sure to thank his coaches, his parents, and his older brother, saying they have all played a huge part in getting him to where he is today.

Black Bears’ Head Coach Clint Mylymok had the following to say:

“We are excited for these three young men, who are taking the next step, toward their dreams of playing NCAA Division 1 hockey. They are hard working, very talented players who will make strong impacts within their programs. Not only are they terrific players, but they are also terrific teammates. We are happy for them and their families, as we all know how much they have all sacrificed to get these kids to the next level.”

While this is a big day in all three players’ careers, they won’t have much time to celebrate as they head to New Jersey tomorrow to take on the Titans. Puck drop will be at 7:30 PM. Make sure to tune in on HockeyTV or follow along with the Black Bears on Twitter.
