The Maryland Black Bears and New Jersey Titans faced off in game two on the weekend, with Maryland trying to get revenge on the Titans after New Jersey took out the Black Bears 4-1 this past Friday night. But Titans’ goalie Andrew Takacs had other plans, stopping all 25 shots he faced to lift New Jersey to a 3-0 win.

The Titans scored in the first period on a power-play goal from forward Levente Keresztes. Keresztes was left unguarded on the near side of the net, and walked out in front and shot top shelf on Maryland goalie Luca Di Pasquo to make it 1-0. In the second period, it was New Jersey defenseman Anthony Mollica scoring on a slap shot from the far boards to make it 2-0. Forward Michael Young sealed the deal for New Jersey with an empty-net goal on the power play to make it a 3-0 final. Maryland goalie Luca Di Pasquo made 27 saves in the loss. The shutout win is Takacs’ second on the season.

With the 3-0 loss, Maryland was swept for the first time at home during the 2021-22 season. The Black Bears hit the road next week for a three-game series with the Johnstown Tomahawks, who sit three points behind Maryland for second place in the East Division. The series will start Thursday, February 24th, and will run through Friday, February 26th. The Black Bears return home on March 4th for a weekend series with the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. All games can be streamed on HockeyTV.
