The Maryland Black Bears looked to bounce back after a tough 5-3 loss to the Johnstown Tomahawks Saturday night. Despite a strong push in the third period, the Black Bears fell short of a late comeback falling to the Tomahawks again 2-1.

The scoring started in the second period when Johnstown forward Daniel Tkac buried a shot to the right of the net to make it 1-0. The Tomahawks cashed in again on a turnover in the third period when forward Will Margel got the puck alone in the slot and scored to make it 2-0. Maryland got some life with 2:06 when Josh Nixon scored on a rebound to make it 2-1. The Black Bears got some chances as the game was brought to an end but ultimately could not convert, bringing the final score to 2-1. This loss was Maryland’s sixth straight.

The Black Bears are back in action Thursday, February 25th and Friday, February 26th against the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks. Puck drop for both games will be at 12:30 PM ET at Danbury Ice Arena. Maryland returns home to Piney Orchard Ice Arena Friday, March 5th against the New Jersey Titans. All games can be streamed on HockeyTV.
